TOM AND RUTH WOODWARD
I would like to honor my former employers Tom and Ruth Woodward of the Bonnechere Caves where I spent 10 summers from the age of 12 until the age of 22 when I graduated from Sir Sanford Fleming College in Peterborough, Ontario. This photo was taken at my graduation in 1979. What does it say about the effect they had on my life and the relationship we had developed to have my employers drive three hours to see me graduate? It is no accident that I would return to the place that held such value in my life 13 years later in 1992 to help Tom retire at age 78 just a few years after Ruth had passed away. Tom would pass away a few years later and at that time Val and I would have the opportunity to purchase the caves from Tom’s estate and keep his dream alive. That dream was to share a geological gem with people of all ages every day all summer season long.
